Team Lead Design Control

Are you a technically skilled leader with a background in complex ship design? We are looking for a Team Lead Design Control to guide a team of specialists through the engineering and production stages of our shipbuilding projects. This role covers multiple technical disciplines including hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, weight control, regulatory compliance, noise and vibration management, welding and preservation, signatures, and vulnerability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a small to medium-sized Design Control team throughout basic and detailed engineering phases of complex maritime projects.

• Manage day-to-day operations and medium-term planning for the team.

• Control the manhour budget, support progress reporting, and ensure timely, high-quality engineering outputs.

• Organize and lead design reviews, and coordinate technical support or commissioning activities.

• Ensure compliance with all technical standards and requirements.

• Contribute to the development, sharing, and retention of knowledge, and continuously improve departmental processes.

What do you bring?

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field and at least five years of relevant experience.

• Solid knowledge of ship design, preferably with a focus on complex naval or maritime vessels.

• Proven ability to deliver structured engineering work packages on time and within budget.

• Proficient in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.

• Strong competencies in customer orientation, results and quality focus, teamwork, leadership, planning, flexibility, decisiveness, initiative, and coaching.

• Strong references are required, as security clearance is part of the hiring process.

• Must hold permanent EU citizenship and a valid EU passport. Candidates with only a (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality or passport are not eligible due to the security-sensitive nature of the projects.
