Job description

As an interim Systems Engineer specializing in Marine Systems Architecture, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that project processes adhere to relevant contracts and regulations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing design and engineering outputs while maintaining the integrity of designs. You will act as a liaison between teams, promoting collaboration and ensuring compliance with high-level functional and technical specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, you will be tasked with:

  • Leading interdisciplinary design reviews and verifying engineering documentation.

  • Promoting technical excellence through effective requirement management and solution development.

  • Analyzing and evaluating technical requirements related to the integration of marine systems, products, and processes.

  • Ensuring the technical compliance of engineering documents, including tracking requirements back to contracts.

  • Facilitating collaboration across disciplines to deliver optimal solutions aligned with project objectives.

  • Overseeing reviews with customers and classification bodies, addressing feedback to reach consensus on requirements.

  • Conducting design verification and participating in system testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Hardware Acceptance Testing (HAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

  • Participating in milestone meetings to ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and schedules.

  • Streamlining internal and external contributions to ensure timely delivery of engineering documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking candidates with the following background:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field, accompanied by at least five years of practical experience working with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers in shipbuilding or related sectors.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in shipbuilding or a related industry, with expertise in Marine Systems engineering.

  • Proven project management skills, along with a solid technical foundation in Marine Systems and experience in complex system manufacturing or subcontracting.

  • Competencies in teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership; with a decisive and results-oriented mindset.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of German is a significant advantage.

  • Excellent references are required, as a standard part of the pre-employment security screening process.

  • Candidates must possess permanent EU citizenship and a passport; individuals with only an NL/EU (work) visa or dual nationality (EU and non-EU) are ineligible due to the military nature of our projects.
