Senior Engineer Configuration Management

Are you passionate about managing complex engineering data with accuracy and structure? We are looking for an experienced Senior Configuration Management Engineer to strengthen our team in Vlissingen. You will play a crucial role in controlling, maintaining, and improving configuration management processes within technically advanced naval shipbuilding projects.

As part of a dynamic engineering environment, you will be responsible for securing product configuration integrity across the full project lifecycle—from proposal through to delivery and beyond. Your work ensures consistency, traceability, and compliance across all stages of ship development.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) tailored to each project.

• Structure and manage project data environments, product structures, and master document lists.

• Validate technical information exchanged with customers and suppliers.

• Monitor and coordinate change control processes across different departments.

• Use PDM/PLM tools (preferably 3DX) to organize and manage engineering data.

• Support and coach teams on configuration management procedures and best practices.

• Identify and propose process improvements and help define long-term configuration strategies.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality assurance, and project management teams.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering; background in shipbuilding or maritime industries is preferred.

• Solid experience with configuration management and PLM/PDM systems (3DX is an advantage).

• Good understanding of Systems Engineering principles.

• Accurate, analytical, and structured in managing complex datasets.

• Proactive attitude and a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.

• Strong communicator with the ability to clearly explain and document technical processes.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in Dutch is a strong plus.

• You must hold permanent EU citizenship and a permanent EU passport due to the defense-related nature of our projects.
