Project Manager ILS software platform implementation (interim)

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the rollout of a new logistics support software platform for a major defence-related programme. This interim assignment (freelance/contract) is expected to last between 12 and 18 months. While the initial focus is on one flagship project, the solution is intended to become the standard for future high-end programmes within the organization.

The role is centered around configuring and implementing an existing software package to support Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities. It is not about developing custom IT systems. Success requires a strong engineering and business perspective, ensuring that the tool provides accurate, consistent, and reliable data to support ILS processes across multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the ILS software deployment for the current programme, with possible extension to future projects.

• Coordinating a cross-functional project team, including engineering, IT, and supply chain specialists.

• Defining scope, requirements, workflows, and data structures before implementation begins.

• Managing project schedule, resources, budget, and reporting to senior leadership.

• Ensuring the system is set up and configured correctly, avoiding unnecessary customisation.

• Promoting user adoption within the organization and among external partners.

• Engaging with technical experts, IT teams, and suppliers to secure smooth implementation and integration.
  

Candidate Profile

We are seeking candidates who bring:

• A university degree (Bachelor or Master) in engineering, IT, or a comparable technical field.

• Substantial experience managing IT/software implementation projects in technically complex industries (e.g. shipbuilding, offshore, infrastructure, defence).

• Proven ability to lead large-scale implementations involving 20+ stakeholders, delivered on time and within budget.

• Familiarity with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) processes and engineering project environments.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to connect business needs and IT solutions.

• Availability to be present on-site several days per week in the Vlissingen area during the project period.

• Fluency in both Dutch and English, spoken and written.

• Strong references, with a security check required before engagement.

• Exclusive EU citizenship and possession of an EU passport (candidates with visas, dual nationality, or non-EU status unfortunately cannot be considered due to project requirements).
