As a Lead Engineer specializing in Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, you will be an essential part of the Naval & Structural group. Your primary focus will be on detailed engineering aspects of FEM within your area of expertise. You will lead a team of FEM engineers, overseeing all FEM deliverables, ranging from basic engineering to yard support and final vessel delivery.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the strength, stiffness, vibrations, shock resistance, producibility, and maintainability of our projects, while consistently adhering to regulatory standards and meeting client requirements.

Key Accountabilities
As a Lead Engineer in FEM, your main responsibilities will include:
FEM Analysis Deliverables: Ensure the timely completion of all FEM analysis deliverables outlined in the Project Documents and Activity List (PDAL).
Team Supervision: Lead a team of approximately 10 full-time equivalents (FTE) across multiple locations, managing modeling, meshing, analysis, post-processing, reporting, and implementation.
Work Allocation: Collaborate with the Lead Structures and Lead Structural Analysis to prioritize and effectively sequence tasks.
Data Management: Oversee and communicate data flow internally and externally.
Quality Control: Maintain the quality of all FEM deliverables.
Team Coordination: Work closely with project and multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal solutions for clients.
Client and Class Coordination: Engage with Class and clients to ensure alignment and satisfaction with project outcomes.
Engineering Excellence: Produce high-quality engineering work within designated timeframes and budgets, adhering to established quality standards.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and client specifications.
Skills & Experience
To succeed as a Lead FEM Engineer, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
A Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Over five years of relevant experience in ship structures, ideally gained in the shipbuilding and/or offshore industry.
Proven experience with ANSYS (preferably APDL) Mechanical (implicit) is essential.
Familiarity with LS-DYNA (explicit) is highly desirable.
Knowledge of ship class calculations and tools such as DNV-GL Nauticus Hull, LR-SSC, or BV MARS2000 is a plus.
Proficiency in written and verbal English, with a good command of Dutch being advantageous.
Excellent references, as a security screening will be part of the hiring process.
Permanent EU citizenship and a valid passport are required. Candidates with only EU (work) visas or non-EU nationalities are not eligible due to the military nature of our projects.
