Engineer Structures

As a Structural Design Engineer you will contribute to the development and detailing of modern naval and offshore vessels. Your primary focus is on the structural integrity of the ship — ensuring that all parts are safe, manufacturable, and compliant with technical and regulatory standards.

You will be involved throughout the entire design process, from initial concept development to detailed engineering and production support. Using modern PLM environments and 3D modeling tools, you will translate complex design requirements into precise and practical structural solutions. Collaboration with colleagues from other engineering disciplines is an essential part of this role to ensure complete and well-integrated vessel designs.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Create 3D models, construction drawings, sectional layouts, and deck arrangements for ship structures.

• Execute structural engineering activities using 2D and 3D PLM systems (for example, 3DExperience), ensuring all work meets agreed timelines, quality expectations, and budgets.

• Work in close cooperation with other engineering disciplines to deliver robust and production-friendly solutions.

• Provide technical advice and contribute ideas for design improvements and optimizations.

• Make sure that all structural work complies with international classification rules and internal design standards.

• Support the development and continuous improvement of yard and project-specific guidelines.
  

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Several years of relevant professional experience in shipbuilding, offshore engineering, or heavy structures.

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools, ideally within a PLM environment (such as 3DX).

• Strong understanding of structural design principles and experience working with classification societies, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver technically sound and practical engineering results within complex projects.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Must hold permanent EU citizenship and a valid EU passport due to the defense-related nature of the projects.

• A security clearance and positive professional references are required.
