Job description

As an Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer, you play a critical role in the design, construction, and commissioning of advanced naval vessels. Your expertise ensures that electrical systems, power distribution, and wiring configurations meet stringent regulations and requirements. You will design EMC-compliant power distribution systems, ensuring the seamless integration of strategic defensive and operational systems—even under extreme conditions.

Working within a 3DExperience engineering environment and following the V-model approach, you will oversee the entire process, from concept development to final implementation. Your contributions will be essential in creating cutting-edge vessels that operate effectively in complex maritime environments.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop functional descriptions, schematics, and other key engineering documents for power distribution, lighting, and electrical systems.

  • Ensure compliance with EMC regulations, a crucial factor in overall ship design.

  • Contribute to the Integrated Topside Design (ITD) to optimize the functionality of onboard equipment.

  • Create detailed test and validation plans for both virtual simulations and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT) to meet strict classification and customer requirements.

  • Manage and support vendors and subcontractors, ensuring their designs adhere to EMC regulations.

  • Review external designs and integrate them into the overall vessel design.

  • Develop and maintain engineering and commissioning standards and best practices.

  • Provide technical support during the proposal phase to embed EMC requirements early in the conceptual design.

  • Assist with on-site commissioning activities when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in designing complex electrical systems, including large-scale power distribution, ideally in maritime, offshore, or industrial settings.

  • Strong knowledge of EMC-compliant design principles; familiarity with TEMPEST regulations is an advantage.

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with various suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Proficiency in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), specifically within the V-model framework.

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Strong professional references; a security screening will be part of the selection process.
