Job description
Are you a skilled designer with a passion for naval architecture and maritime engineering? As a Design Engineer Naval Architecture, you will play a vital role in the design and development of naval vessels, particularly during the pre-contract phase within the Proposals department. You will transform design concepts into clearly defined technical requirements, while understanding the critical balance of factors such as stability, resistance, structural strength, seakeeping, layout, and survivability.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary tender team to help define the best technical solutions for complex naval projects. This includes close collaboration with the Tender Manager, Proposal Engineer, Draftsmen, and specialists in the fields of Naval Architecture, Structures, and Outfitting.

Your responsibilities
In this role, your main tasks will include:
Carrying out design and development tasks for various ship types and project phases.
Conducting requirements analysis, generating concepts, designing general arrangements, estimating weight, and performing stability, resistance, and propulsion calculations.
Evaluating new (sub)concepts and documenting findings in detailed reports.
Preparing technical documentation, equipment specifications, contract documents, and presentations to effectively communicate calculations, design concepts, and key data.
Ensuring timely communication with all relevant stakeholders to integrate input into technical calculations.
Coordinating with internal departments to achieve the best possible project results.
Your profile
To be successful in this position, you should bring:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
At least three years of relevant experience in a variety of ship design concepts and methodologies.
Familiarity with advanced design and proposal processes, ideally including integration of combat systems in complex newbuild naval ships.
Strong command of English, both written and spoken; Dutch is a plus.
Strong professional references, as a security clearance is part of the hiring process.
Full and permanent citizenship and passport of an EU country. Unfortunately, applicants with only an EU (work) visa or a (partially) non-EU nationality or passport are not eligible due to the sensitive nature of the projects.
