Subdepartment Manager Combat

About the Role

As Manager of the Combat Systems subdepartment, you will be leading a team of around 20 professionals within the Combat, Electrical & Automation (CE&A) Engineering division. You’ll oversee staffing, tools, and processes to ensure top-tier engineering delivery. Your leadership ensures the right expertise is matched with the right projects. In addition to managerial responsibilities, you will also contribute technically to engineering or proposal projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Combat Systems subdepartment and maintain an effective and collaborative team.

• Allocate resources to ensure engineering teams are optimally staffed.

• Actively contribute to technical projects or proposal development within your area of expertise.

• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the department.

• Define and implement configuration management plans (CMPs) for naval-related projects.

• Set up and manage product structures, document lists, and data systems for projects.

• Drive compliance with engineering and HSSEQ standards.

• Take part in design reviews and technical discussions.

• Enhance procedures and planning aligned with strategic goals.

• Monitor performance and cultivate a high-functioning, motivated team.

What You Bring

• A bachelor’s degree (EQF 6) with 12–15 years’ experience, or a master’s degree (EQF 7) with 10–12 years in a relevant technical field.

• Demonstrated leadership in engineering, production, and integration of complex systems (ideally maritime, electrical, or mechanical).

• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to form strategic partnerships.

• Solid knowledge of engineering principles, financials, and contract management.

• Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

• Willingness to travel within the Netherlands and occasionally abroad for project purposes.
