Job description

As a (Senior) Technical Author Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), you will be responsible for creating, updating, and managing technical documentation for naval ships and systems. Your role involves developing user manuals, maintenance guides, test protocols, and business process documentation, ensuring that all descriptions are clear, accurate, and well-structured. These documents will cover various aspects, including functions, requirements, layouts, components, operational modes, security, and maintenance.

You will work closely with engineering teams and technical experts to collect and structure technical and logistic information, transforming complex data into well-organized and user-friendly documentation.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your main tasks will include:

  • Preparing technical documents within a structured framework while adhering to prescribed formats.

  • Collecting and organizing technical and logistic information from diverse sources, including texts, drawings, diagrams, lists, specifications, manuals, 3D models, P&IDs, colleagues, and reports.

  • Creating system-level technical documentation based on input from the Engineering team.

  • Modifying and enhancing illustrations to improve documentation clarity.

  • Inputting information into software systems in compliance with international standards S1000D and S2000M.

  • Delivering Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP).

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, philology, or a related field.

  • Professional experience working with Content Management Systems and structured documentation using XML/DITA/S1000D.

  • Knowledge of complex systems and international standards such as S1000D, S2000M, S3000L, and Simplified Technical English (STE).

  • Strong ability to distinguish between primary and secondary issues, ensuring clear, concise, and precise writing.

  • An enthusiastic team player who takes initiative and actively contributes to product development.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent references, as security screening is a mandatory part of the hiring process.
