Functieomschrijving

As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing advanced power systems and wiring configurations for high-tech naval vessels. Your expertise ensures that these vessels meet strict regulatory and operational requirements while maintaining functionality under extreme conditions. Key responsibilities include load balance calculations, power distribution planning, and cable routing optimization. Additionally, depending on the vessel's specifications, you will develop EMC-compliant power distribution systems for critical onboard technologies.

Working within a model-based system engineering (MBSE) environment and following the V-model approach, you will collaborate on basic and detailed designs, ensuring they undergo thorough testing, validation, and verification throughout both the design and production phases. Your work contributes directly to the successful launch of advanced naval vessels ready to operate worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your tasks will include:

  • Designing functional descriptions, schematics, and documentation for power distribution, lighting, and electrical systems.

  • Specifying electrical components and installation processes to ensure compliance with industry standards.

  • Developing test and validation plans for virtual simulations and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT) to meet regulatory and client requirements.

  • Coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to secure timely project contributions.

  • Reviewing subcontractor designs and integrating them into the overall vessel design.

  • Establishing engineering standards and best practices for detailed design and commissioning.

  • Providing technical support during proposal stages by creating conceptual power system designs.

  • Assisting with commissioning activities and technical support for contracted projects.

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience designing complex electrical systems, including large-scale power distribution, preferably within maritime, offshore, or aerospace industries.

  • Hands-on experience managing multidisciplinary projects involving multiple suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Proficiency in model-based system engineering (MBSE) using the V-model approach.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of EMC-compliant design principles; familiarity with TEMPEST regulations is an advantage.
